Kotido DISTRICT UNION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
Our organization for persons with disabilities emerged from a grassroots movement advocating for the rights and inclusion of individuals facing physical, cognitive, and sensory challenges. Initially, a small group of dedicated activists, fueled by their personal experiences and a shared vision of a more equitable society, began organizing local support groups and awareness campaigns.
We offer a comprehensive range of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of individuals with disabilities across the lifespan. From early intervention programs for children with developmental delays to vocational training and employment support for adults, we strive to foster independence, inclusion, and self-advocacy. Our services encompass educational advocacy, assistive technology provision, accessible housing initiatives, and community integration programs, among others. Through collaborative partnerships with government agencies, businesses, and community stakeholders, we ensure that our services are responsive, innovative, and driven by the voices and priorities of the disability community.
Our Objectives
To unite all sub counties, indigenous organizations and non-disability groups
To advocate for the equalization of rights and opportunities of persons with disabilities with other citizens of Uganda
To increase awareness of special needs for the rehabilitation and development among decision makers, the public and international organizations
To Aid, stimulate, and encourage the spirit of community self-help projects for the welfare of persons with disabilities and assist them stimulate projects of self-reliance and also provide advice on how to implement developmental projects in their communities
To publicize all the activities of persons with disabilities through mass media, workshops and seminars in order to increase public awareness.
